Task Quest is a personal project built with transparency in mind. Here's exactly what we collect and why — no legalese.

📋What We Collect

  • Account info — your email address and username, provided at signup.
  • Task data — epics, quests, tasks, notes, and completion history you create within the app.
  • Personal info — optional free-text context (skills, preferences, goals) you may add in Account Settings for AI planning.
  • Usage data — daily AI request counts for rate-limiting purposes. We do not track analytics or browsing behavior.

⚙️How We Use It

  • App functionality — to store and display your tasks, calculate XP and streaks, and populate the leaderboard.
  • AI planning — when you use the Quest Planner, your conversation and (optionally) personal info are sent to Google Gemini to generate task plans. This only happens when you actively use the planner.
  • Rate limiting — daily request counts enforce fair usage limits for users without their own API key.

🔒Data Storage

  • Your data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). All connections use TLS encryption in transit.
  • Passwords are hashed by Supabase Auth — we never store or see plaintext passwords.
  • If you provide your own Gemini API key, it is stored encrypted in our database and only used server-side to make AI requests on your behalf.

  • Google Gemini AI — processes Quest Planner conversations to generate task plans. Conversation data is sent to Google's API when you use the planner. ai.google.dev/terms
  • Vercel — hosts the web application. vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
  • We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.

🛡️Your Rights

  • Access — you can view all your data within the app at any time.
  • Deletion — you can delete individual tasks, quests, and epics. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us.
  • Portability — your data is yours. Contact us if you need an export.
  • Opt out of AI — simply don't use the Quest Planner. Personal info is never sent to AI unless you explicitly check the box.
